We are in need of basic art supplies such as drawing paper, watercolor paper, mat board, crescent board, rulers, watercolors, tempera paint, acrylic paint, paint brushes (assortment of sizes), glue bottles, pencils, pencil sharpeners, white vinyl eraser, Prismacolors, Prismacolor Art Stix, colored pencils, colored markers, black Sharpies, colored Sharpies, masking tape, clear tape, reams of computer paper, card stock white paper, colored computer paper, scissors, & exacto- knives. Sketchbooks/Journals, basic colored markers. drawing pencils 2B, 4B, 6B), pencil sharpeners, white vinyl erasers, basic colored pencils set, basic colored markers, & black Sharpies. Students were supposed furnish these basic art supplies, but with their parents having to evacuate and having to pay for hotel rooms, extra food & water, or damage to their homes, students and parents could not provide these basic needs. When we were allowed back in our classrooms right after the hurricane, we were under the impression that we would be able to come back within a few weeks. Since the building was still unsafe to be in, we were only allowed 10 minutes in our classrooms. We were told to grab material we would need to teach for roughly 3 weeks. As time has passed, we have learned that everything was gutted in our rooms due to water damage and mold growth. After two months of no school, the school board decided we would return to school. However, we only had one safe school at this time and it could only support the 4th through 7th graders. The 6thand 7th graders are limited to one elective and have an altered schedule. After 3 weeks of being in school, we finally opened two other campuses. Our 8th graders are housed at the high school and are currently having all classes there. Our school has received many donations but they were only the very basic needs such as backpacks, paper, binders, markers, crayons, glue, scissors, pencils, etc. As for my teaching, I have a total of seven classes a day with roughly 180 students. With our school displacement, I have two 8th grade classes that I teach each day at the high school in the senior English classroom. Our materials include crayons, markers, colored pencils, copy paper and manila paper. I am frustrated that the creativity level is so limited because our resources for my art students have been damaged.

Due to the effects of hurricane Harvey, over 100 of my students are unable to pay the art fee of $9.00. This is the money I use to buy the materials we need for projects during the year. The materials include poster board, drawing paper, prisma colors, markers, sharpies, watercolors, sharpeners, brayers, black drawing paper, oil pastels, paint, brushes, charcoal.

Most of our students are not able to repurchase the supplies that they were to bring to school, and I can't ask them to. Some of them had them and just had not brought them to me. But now that Dickinson was hit so hard with Hurricane Harvey, I need for them to have their supplies. Each student was asked to bring their own paint and colored pencils. I have found that they take care of their supplies when it belongs to them. So, Some students have their supplies and some do not.

Our school was greatly affected by the hurricane and is currently displaced between two schools. Most of our supplies and furniture have been damaged due to mold and rust and we are starting over. It would be great for the students to have art supplies to use now as well as new art tables and drying racks when we are able to return to our school. I teach Journalism and Yearbook at King Middle. My students are in need of five new digital cameras, five tripods and memory cards. We would also like our art materials replaced. Some of which included tempera paints, brushes and art paper. We'd like new plastic crates/bins to store our equipment in.

We have a large number of students that are still displaced and getting traditional materials for classes is a struggle. We have students that would like to be involved in more than one art discipline, but cannot afford to rent/buy an instrument. Music for competition is also a necessity.
